Countdown to the 2023 Governorship Election in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo State.

Notice of Election

Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act 2022 provides no later than 360 days before the election.

28th February 2022

 Conduct Party Primaries including resolution of disputes
arising from the Primaries.

To enable Political Parties democratically nominate candidates for the election as required by Section 84 of the Electoral Act 2022.

 Commence 4th April 2022, End 3rd June 2022.

Publication of Notice of Poll by the Commission.

Section 44 of the Electoral Act 2022 provides for not later than 14 days before the election.

30th January 2023

Date of Election

Sections 76 (1) & (2), 116 (1) & (2), 3 132 (1) & (2) 178 (1) & (2) of the
Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) empower the Commission to appoint dates for Presidential, Governorship, National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly elections not earlier than 150 days and not later than 30 days before the expiration of the term of office of the last holder/before the House stands dissolved.
